Not every project requires building a network. For a shop window, a small stage or a test bench, a laptop running MADRIX 5 and USB ONE are enough: the interface plugs into USB, the luminaires’ DMX line connects to the XLR socket, and it starts working once the driver is installed.
USB ONE sends 512 channels as output or reads them as input. In input mode, a DMX console controls MADRIX 5 remotely: effects are selected and brightness adjusted with the faders on the console. A male–male XLR adapter is required for input.
When it grows
Several USB ONE units can be plugged into the same computer; according to MADRIX, 60 interfaces, or 30,720 channels, can be connected to a single USB controller without frame rate problems. When the project grows, network-based STELLA or LUNA is a tidier solution.
