NEBULA is a small box that converts lighting data received over the network into the SPI signal digital LEDs understand. The effect designed in MADRIX 5 reaches NEBULA as Art-Net or sACN; the device passes this data pixel by pixel to strips and luminaires through its two ports. No separate converter is needed in between.
Where is it used?
Anywhere there are pixel-controlled linear luminaires, LED strips and media mesh surfaces: in bridge and facade lighting, interior ceilings, shop windows, stage and event sets. 2,040 RGB pixels per device; with a luminaire of 8 pixels per meter, a line of about 255 meters can be managed with a single NEBULA.
Things to watch during installation
- The SPI signal does not like long cables. Place NEBULA in a panel close to the luminaires; let Ethernet carry the long distance.
- The protocol is selected separately for each port; both an RGB and an RGBW line can be driven by the same device.
- If there are several devices, enable sync mode; the whole surface is updated in the same frame.
