We drew the railing bars of the pedestrian bridge at the Kızılcahamam entrance one by one with MidiPix P8 pixel luminaires; the bridge has become a gateway to the district that greets everyone arriving with colorful scenes.

Kızılcahamam is the stop on the road north from Ankara known for its thermal springs and forests. The pedestrian bridge crossing the highway at the district entrance is the first structure everyone arriving sees. Together with the municipality, we turned this bridge into a gateway to the district that stands out at night too.
Turning bars into lines
The vertical bars lining the bridge’s railing give the structure a rhythmic, comb-like silhouette. Instead of spreading light over the surface, we drew these bars one by one: each carries a MidiPix P8. Drivers passing on the road perceive the bridge as lines lighting up in sequence, while the concrete body stays calm in the dark.
From national holidays to ordinary nights
Because each pixel is controlled individually, the same luminaires can create very different scenes: red and white on national holidays, colors specific to the town on special days, and on ordinary nights a color transition flowing slowly along the bridge. The views at the top of the page are some of these scenes.
