Hilton DoubleTree Hotel rises right next to the Metropolitan Municipality Building in central Manisa. We did the lighting of both buildings; this page tells the hotel’s story, while the municipality building’s is on its own page.
The hotel’s facade is a grid of vertical and horizontal lines. We placed StriPix P8s on these lines, so the facade reads at night through its own geometry. Since pixel control can paint each section of the grid separately, rainbow-like color transitions, waves moving floor by floor or calm single-color views are all created with the same luminaires.
Seen from the air at night, the hotel and the municipality building complement each other: while one stands out with its colors, the other can switch to the colors of the flag or to calm tones. Because the light language of the two buildings was planned together, they form an image on the city skyline that complements rather than competes.
